Numbers.
Whenever flylady hosts one of her "Super-fling boogies" she always suggests you weigh the stuff going out the door. I did one year and got rid of 700 lbs.
Tomorrow is garbage day.
So, I rounded up two of the three garbage bags in the basement and two recycling bags (we don't have to sort) and weighed them before attaching the twist tie, dragging them up the stairs one step at a time, and punting them out the door. Along with the stuff I dropped off yesterday, the house has lost, (are you ready for it?) 99 lbs so far.
Like this:
Recycleables: 25 lbs
Garbage: 30 lbs
Donations: 44 lbs.
(All that in about 2 and a 1/4 hours spread over 6 days)
Not bad, not bad at all.

That's a neat idea. I tend to get rid of things on a regular basis, but I should try and weigh stuff. Mostly I'm giving a way a bag of clothes and freecycling things. I try hard to divert stuff from the landfill.
Stunning! What a great job....
