The Cure; Fall 2009

I have signed up.

I am not sure exactly why.

I'm not sure how much I want to participate. (I really need to focus on keeping school going with the kids). There is, as usual, no budget. And what I really need to "help" my home along is not a "cure" but a thorough cleaning and developing routines to keep things clean. In short, I really need housekeeping therapy.

But, hey, it is fun. Not only is it fun to participate: it is fun to encourage others on this remarkable road of discovery. I really do think I have discovered all there is to know about living in our 1200 square foot, 1950's home with two kids, a husband, a dog and a guinea pig--but you never know.

So, I suppose that's as good a reason as any.
Who knows what will happen?

alana! thanks so much for the encouragement & linking to my blog. it sounds like we have a lot in common. i live in a small house in northern mn with my man, two boys and a dog. it gets pretty wild sometimes.

i too am working with no budget. that's why my cure is green - i'll be keeping my consumption to a minimum!

thanks again,

Alana, have you ever encountered FlyLady? She is what I think of when I hear "housekeeping therapy." My sister has had a lot of success with her email programs at times when she has been low or prone to distraction.

Thanks Kerry.

Yes, I have heard of Flylady. I even own two of her feather dusters!

I might go to her for help--I'm not sure.

I was glad to see you on a comment board! I'm doing a two room cure and whole house clean. No budget. NONE. I'm painting with what we already have, and decorating that way too...

Flylady also started when the creator was seriously depressed, and one of the things that stressed her out was her house. It's based on cognitive behavioral therapy principles and the idea that if you just do it and get the behavior under control, you can process what thoughts drive it in a manner that doesn't leave you paralyzed. I tend towards depression myself, and really it is always the overthinking that leads to my getting stuck and perfectionistic and avoiding things.

yeah I should be curing but the process is daunting. I'm basically lurking the Cure right now hoping to get inspired...

Hi Alana,

Liza-Ann(supermompu) here again. I love your Blog. We have alot in common; busy house, limited budget, kid in tow. I joined the Cure because I've been watching it for years as I made low cost improvements to my home. It's more motivating when it feels like you're taking it on with someone else.

I'll keep checking back here. I don't blog but I've put alot of pics in the Flickr pool as Baydoll1989...I know too many identities :-)

Have a great weekend. It's rain drizzle and fog here in St. John's as always!
