What I Wore: GYPO Winter Challenge Week 2

Here is Week One.

The creator of GYPO (Get Your Pretty On) is offering a year long challenge ( four "challenges," one for each season) for a fixed price until the end of January. I am trying to decide whether or not to buy the package and continue with this approach to my wardrobe.

It is strange to change into pretty clothes after work--or, if I work late, change out of them to go to work. I have a lot of work to do over at my Mother's coming up, too, (posts on that, soon) and in my mind, I won't be able to wear "nice" clothes over there, either. But I could be wrong about that!

On to Week Two!

It was a strange one with Christmas plunked down in the middle.

I included the prices and places where I bought everything in Week One. Nothing new this week except the statement necklace.

Outfit of the day #8

I was supposed to wear my burgundy jeans, but I'd decided to exchange them for a smaller size, so I didn't wear the suggested outfit. I also worked a nine hour shift.

Outfit of the day #9

This looks so plain to me. I need either a necklace or a scarf.

Outfit of the day #10
I am supposed to be wearing the sweater dress (but I didn't buy it.) Instead, I subbed this favorite sweater from my closet.

Sorry for the blur.

Outfit of the day #11
Dressed to spend Christmas Eve at my nephew's eighth birthday party!

Burgundy jeans! I returned the old pair (for which I had paid full price, and got these on sale, $30.00 cheaper!)

Christmas Day.
Off script, but still pretty, I think.

Statement necklace: Pennington's $16.00

Those grey pants are beginning to bag out just a little too much.

Outfit of the day #12
(I am officially behind one day.)

I am so sorry about that mirror. Every time I think I've got it cleaned--more pesky paint flecks show up!

Worn on Boxing Day for our second Christmas with my Mom and nephew.
I am supposed to be wearing plaid flats, but I couldn't find any. Besides, the flares are too long for flats! (They also need to be taken in at the waist.)

Worked a long day on Sunday and changed from work clothes straight into PJs.
Some days are just like that.

So, only five outfits this week.

PS: Kind, good advice welcomed.

Hi Alana,
Love outfit #11 with that sparkly top! I think you changed out the black pants last week for burgundy this week? Nice the top and sweater are so versatile that way! Congrats on going a size smaller on the pants. that must feel very good!

Did you get a haircut? It's so cute! Love your two necklaces too.

Can you tell mus a little more about how your online class works? You get a list of items to buy to put together 21 seasonal outfits. Are the suggestions hard and fast (black pants, red plaid top) or can you adapt it to colors and styles you prefer? Is there an online forum for participants to interact in?

You are observant! Yes, I got a haircut.

We get our list of items to wear--with pictures of the items! There are also several sources offered for them. (Including one source for each item in plus sizes.)

Alison mentions what colour she is styling--and the cut of the pant, too. Substitutions are allowed and encouraged. But, that can run into problems. For example, Alison styles a light grey fur vest--and she puts it with the black blouse and black wash jeans. My fur vest is black. With my black top and black pants I just look like I'm dressed like a bear for halloween.

The outfit combinations--with illustrations, again are released at the same time as the list. (Apparently that wasn't always the case.) It is all bundled into a pdf file.

There is a private facebook group as I mentioned. That is where participants interact. It is a lot of fun to see the other ladies all dressed the same--except everyone is just a little bit different--or so it seems! Any other questions?

I put together a pinterest board while I was shopping for my items. You can see it here: https://www.pinterest.com/alana99/gypo-winter-2015/

Oh and I should mention, while the challenge is "on" Alison sends us an e-mail every night with the next day's outfit pictured--as well as a style tip or two.

Love the red plaid shirt! Looks great on you😀. Sounds like a great challenge-- I could definitely use some help putting outfits together - I never seem to know what pieces go together.

I have seen articles or pinterest posts where they use a staple amount of clothing to actually have many outfits from, but I have always been afraid of that for some reason. Like the clothing police would come and get me. But actually, if your pieces can mix and match you have many options. Thank you for sharing! I'm learning!
