See the desk with the computer on top? See the drawer units on either side? They're white with the boxes covered in a lovely quilted paper used for mailing. The boxes need re-covering, so it won't be a big deal to change it.
Here's the decision that needs to be made: should I paint the white drawer supports the same colour as the desk to make it blend in? Or should I keep it white? (The tops will be painted and/or stained to match the computer desk so there is one colour all along the surface).
The red walls will be replaced with a creamy almond (the same colour as the shelving supports) and I think I'm painting that pine shelving white. The thing is, I really can't tell if the supports should coordinate with the new shelving above--or the desk. (And, frankly, I'm scared that painting it will make the whole thing just look really dark.)
What do you think would be better? Easier on the eye? Well--coordinated?
I can't decide re: your question, but I've been meaning to ask - what's that bird thing in the corner?
ReplyDeleteThat is a kite of an Eagle. Beautiful, expensive thing that never flew very well.
ReplyDeleteI can't decide, either. I think what I would do is leave that decision until last - after painting the walls and staining the tops to match the desk.
ReplyDeleteIf you're painting the walls a creamy almond color (which I'm assuming is on the light side), I would suggest painting/staining everything ( the side tables AND shelves) the same color as the desk. It'll be a nice contrast against the room.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about this for the last five minutes, and I think I may need to see how it looks with the wall painted. I'm having a hard time just using my imagination (kindergarten has FAILED ME).
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of the dark desk stuff with the almond walls, I'm almost agreeing on having the shelves match the dark desk too. I'd have to definitely agree though and say paint first and it will be way easier to see what should be light/dark after that. I guess there will be other white shelving around, the Expedit will be white, right?
