On months like January, where we are doing a spending freeze, I make a list of all items in the pantry and freezer, determine what recipes I can make, make a list, then start plugging them on a calendar, at least 1 week at a time. On "normal" months, I do it weekly, starting with what we feel like eating, then what we still need to complete the recipes (after looking at pantry and fridge/freezer). We normally plan dinners only but also buy typical things we use for breakfast and lunch.

We shop based on what we need rather than by the sales ads. We typically shop at Trader Joe's which does not have sales. We also shop at 1-2 other local stores for produce and a few other items. I used to look over the ads, use coupons, etc but it got too stressful. I spend less now and am more at peace! We also keep an ongoing shopping list that the family adds to throughout the week.MMariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00385969047404071484noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7996566617043488147.post-23892862294154317982016-01-26T22:40:34.266-07:002016-01-26T22:40:34.266-07:00Gina--start small! I have got to start really cooking some good meals again. It seems like I get in a rut when I don't plan my meals. When is the last time I planned them? Well? Oh all right, it was 2015..... Yeah, I said it....

Maybe I can muster up some brain juice and pen/paper and plan some meals ahead. I love it when I don't have to think every day about what it is going to be. Plus I would lay out our frozen meat to thaw instead of ordering pizza. (and I wonder why my pants are tight)

Gina in Chattanooga, TNUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12993138594909605302noreply@blogger.com
